What is the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2026?

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2026:

Age Limit:

  • No age limit for appearing in JEE Main
  • Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent in 2024, 2025, or appearing in 2026

Educational Qualification:

  • Must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • Minimum 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC/ST) OR
  • Must be in top 20 percentile of respective boards

Subjects Required:

  • Physics (Compulsory)
  • Chemistry (Compulsory)
  • Mathematics (Compulsory)
  • One additional subject from Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry, etc.

Number of Attempts:

  • Candidates can appear for JEE Main for 3 consecutive years
  • First attempt: Year of appearing 12th
  • Second attempt: Year after passing 12th
  • Third attempt: Following year

Important Note:

For NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, 75% criteria is applicable. Candidates failing to meet this can qualify JEE Main but won't be eligible for JoSAA counselling.
