NTA has revised JEE Main 2026 exam pattern. Know about changes in questions, duration, marking scheme, and how to prepare for the new format effectively.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced changes in the JEE Main 2026 exam pattern. Aspirants should carefully understand the new format before starting their preparation.

JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two papers - Paper 1 for B.E/B.Tech and Paper 2 for B.Arch/B.Planning. Paper 1 will have 90 questions (30 each from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) to be attempted in 3 hours.

The question paper will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Value Type questions. Each subject will have 20 MCQs and 10 numerical questions, out of which candidates need to attempt any 5 numerical questions.

For MCQs, 4 marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. For numerical questions, 4 marks will be awarded for correct answers and there is no negative marking.

The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode except for the drawing section in B.Arch which will be pen and paper based. Candidates can choose the exam center as per their convenience during registration.

Candidates are advised to practice mock tests available on the NTA website to get familiar with the exam interface. Time management is crucial as the speed of attempting questions matters in the CBT format.
